Wonders of Mexico

Wonders of Mexico is a picturesque educational program capturing the folklore of Mexico through its traditional dances. The dances portray the essence and diversity of Mexico's regions depicting their unique history, costumes, art, and music.  This interactive show presents dances from the regions of Chiapas, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacan, Puebla, and Veracruz.  Through bilingual entertaining lectures and performances, this 30 to 45 show promises to be a show stopper! Throughout the show we will ask for audience participation in various ways.

Hispanic Heritage Month and Cinco de Mayo Matinee Performances

Through dance, ANMBF transports students to Mexico: its history, its culture, and its richness. The theatrical performance will be entertaining and educational for all ages! The program is enhanced through and educational packet, which includes detailed information about folklorico dances, as well as information about Mexican holidays, customs, and traditions.  This informational packet can easily be used for future educational and art projects

Traditions of Mexico-Learn to Dance Folklorico

The Traditions of Mexico is an interactive dance class that teaches students Ballet Folklorico. The intructor will choreograph one or two dance routines (depending on time constraints and the children's capacity) and teach the children a unique history behind each dance.

Folklorico Fact!

Guerrero (South) - Guerrero is a tropical state on the Pacific coast. It was not only a haven to Asian influences that strayed and landed on its coast, but also a haven for run-away black slaves. In a presentation coordinated by the state of Guerrero, I witnessed a dance that looked like an old cliché about Africans dancing around a fire and being chased by a tiger. This was one of the folk dances archived by African slaves. The Africans also brought us the drum rhythms of cumbias and salsas. The Spanish slave trade distributed the sound in all of the Latin countries. I also heard a very Mexican sounding music from a line-up of Mexicans dressed in the traditional white pants and shirt, palm weave hat and huaraches.
