Is there any way I can register my child for ANMBF Dance Academy classes before August 2020?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. Registration for our current semester (Spring 2020) ended on February 22, 2020, and we are not accepting new students for our Dance Academy classes until next semester (Fall 2020), which begins August 15, 2020.
My 5-year-old has never danced ballet folklorico before. Where do they start?
They would start at our ANMBF Dance Academy, which holds folklorico classes every Saturday for beginners ages 3 and up (including adults) at the Anita N. Martinez Recreation Center.
How old does my child have to be to take ANMBF Dance Academy classes?
You must be at least 3 years old in order to take ANMBF Dance Academy classes.
Can my 2-year-old take ANMBF Dance Academy classes? She's potty trained.
No, we cannot accept your 2-year-old, even if they are potty trained. (We're not sure how this rumor got started.)
Can my son take ANMBF Dance Academy classes?
Absolutely! Our classes are broken up by age group, not gender, so as long as he is at least 3 years of age, he can take classes at the ANMBF Dance Academy.
Do you offer other types of classes besides ballet folklorico at the ANMBF Dance Academy?
We also offer classical ballet classes, but only for 3 to 8-year-olds.
When are ANMBF Dance Academy classes held?
Where are ANMBF Dance Academy classes held?

How long is each class?
A little under an hour long.

It depends on what type of class you're taking and what age group you fall into.

How much do the ANMBF Dance Academy classes cost?
Tuition is $40 a month for one person taking one class, or $65 a month if a person is enrolled in both types of classes. There is also a $6 discount on the monthly tuition of family members if they choose to take classes as well.
My daughter turns 6 in February. Will she get put in the classes for 3 to 5-year-olds or the classes for 6 to 8-year-olds?
If they turn 6 on or before enrollment ends, they will be put in the classes for 6 to 8 year olds. If they turn 6 after the last day of enrollment, they will be put in the classes for 3 to 5 year olds.
Today is February 8, 2020. Why does your website say I can't register my 3 year old for Dance Academy classes anymore?
We only register 25 students per class, and our classes for 3 to 5-year-olds tend to fill up the fastest, which usually happens about a month after registration begins.
After I've registered my child for ANMBF Dance Academy classes, when would they start taking classes?
We offer same-day registration for our Dance Academy classes, which means that they can begin taking classes the same day they are registered.
What will my child need to bring/wear for the first day of class at ANMBF Dance Academy?
All they will need to bring to the first day of class is themselves. Eventually, they will need to wear a black leotard (girls) or black shirt (boys) and some type of black workout bottoms, and, if they are enrolled in a folklorico class, folklorico shoes, which can be purchased from Sandy's Dancewear located at 2211 Gus Thomasson Rd. Dallas, TX 75228.
I don't think my 3-year-old was ready to take dance classes after all. Is there any way she can drop the class?
Yes, she can drop the class at the end of the month. We hope to see her again next semester!
When is the last of ANMBF Dance Academy classes?
The last day of Dance Academy classes for Spring 2020 is June 13, 2020, and on that day all of our students will perform for their families and friends in our Spring 2020 Recital!
Where is the ANMBF Dance Academy recital going to be?
At the Anita N. Martinez Recreation Center located at 3212 N. Winnetka Ave. Dallas, TX 75212.
What time is the ANMBF Dance Academy recital?
The recital begins at 11:00 AM; however, all dancers are required to be present at 10:00 AM, regardless of their usual class time.
Do I need to purchase tickets for the ANMBF Dance Academy recital?
Each family (not each student) will receive four complimentary tickets. Additional tickets will cost $5 each. Due to limited seating, families may only purchase up to two additional tickets.
Will there be assigned seats at the Dance Academy recital?
Yes, every family will be allocated no more than 4 seats at the recital, all on the same row. Your family will not receive extra seating even if your family has multiple dancers enrolled in the Dance Academy. In other words: more dancers do not equal more seats. How close you are to the stage depends on how early you registered. If you register on the first day of registration, you are more likely to sit in the front. If you register on the last day of registration, you are more likely to sit in the back. If you order additional tickets, those additional seats will be in the back.
Is it mandatory for my child to participate in the ANMBF Dance Academy recital?
No, participation in the recital is totally optional.
What will my child need to wear for the recital?
If they are enrolled in ballet folklorico and this is their first Dance Academy recital, girls will need to wear a red skirt, a traditional blouse, a hair bun accessory, and a flower comb purchased from ANMBF. Depending on the measurement, the total cost of those 4 costume items could be anywhere from $95 to $125. She will also need to wear her black folklorico shoes. If you intend to register your child for ballet folklorico again the following semester, she may use the same costume items in next semester's recital so long as she has not grown out of any of them. If your daughter is enrolled in classical ballet she will need a ballet costume purchased from ANMBF, which, depending on their measurement, could cost anywhere from $50 to $70.
Do you offer classes for adults?
Yes! The only type of classes we offer to adults are folklorico classes. Adults with some experience dancing folklorico can register for our open-level class held on Tuesday nights from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Adults with a lot of experience dancing folklorico can audition for the Professional Company of the ANMBF Performing Companies to take advanced level classes and perform across the DFW Metroplex and beyond!
When, where, and how do I register for your adult class on Tuesdays?
