Anita N. Martinez
1925-2026
With deep sorrow and gratitude, the Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico honors our beloved founder, Anita N. Martinez (1925–2026).
Through her vision and dedication, she created a space where generations found identity, culture, and hope. A trailblazer and mentor, she was also the first Mexican-American woman elected to the Dallas City Council, tirelessly advocating for the most vulnerable.
Her legacy lives on in every dance, every story, and every life she touched.
In honor of Anita N. Martinez’s extraordinary legacy and lifelong dedication to preserving and sharing Mexican folkloric dance, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to support the continued mission of the Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico.
